According to Wisconsin Statute 55.18, an annual “WATTS” review needs to be performed to any individual who is under protective placement. The annual review process includes the following:
- An annual report from Dane County Department of Services or the individual’s Support Broker or Case Manager if she has one;
- A lawyer (guardian ad litem) is appointed to the placed individual; and
- The guardian.
The annual report needs to include a visit to the individual. The report covers the physical, mental and social condition of the individual and the appropriateness of the placement. A copy of the annual report is sent to the guardian, the individual being reviewed, the individual’s agent under a power of attorney for health care if different from the guardian, the guardian ad litem and the probate court.
