Policy Requiring Participation in the Community Options Program and MA Waiver Programs

Effective , individuals receiving developmental disability services who failed to meet Medicaid Waiver eligibility criteria experienced a reduction in their SDS rate of approximately 60%. Contracted services such as support brokerage, transportation, behavioral consultation, etc. were evaluated on an individual basis and eliminated where safely feasible. Going forward, Dane County expects new service recipients will meet both the financial and functional eligibility requirements for Medicaid Waiver programs, e.g., CIP 1A, 1B, II.

The only exception is when the application of this policy is expected to have a substantial negative clinical impact on the consumer’s disability or symptoms and/or pose a health and safety risk to the community. Exceptions must be presented to the Dane County DD Intake Unit and assigned Dane County Program Specialist for final determination.
